If you need to lose belly fat usually the first thing people think they should do is hundreds of crunches and sit-ups or using the latest greatest ab equipment shown on the television adds. The truth is doing crunches, abb machine workouts and sit ups are the least effective way to lose belly fat.

One of the first things you must do to lose belly fat is to get your diet under control. While you can’t lose belly fat without doing any form of exercise, you have simply got to start eating differently to how you used to in the past. Remember this, if you don’t make changes to your diet then nothing about your appearance will change. You need to change the diet and eating foods that got you overweight and wanting to lose fat in the first place.

There is way to much confusion about how to go about fat loss and what systems really work, let alone what is healthy fat loss. We are subjected to conflicting messages from the media who constantly hit us with the fad diets, exercise machines and diet pills.  A sensible diet that is easy to prepare and follow, and that is based around non processed foods will keep you in good stead.You can’t expect to loose belly fat over night because you have simply changed your diet. The next step for fat loss is to start working out, exercise. This too needs to go hand in hand with your diet.

To start realize that its the intensity of your fat loss exercise and that you need to focus on the whole body in order to get the best metabolic response so you can lose that persistent belly fat. I once heard it put this way, If you focus on the upper and lower body, the middle will take care of itself.

To loose fat and get really fit and lean, go for exercises that offer high intensity and take short rest periods in between. Work the large muscle groups instead of focusing on the smaller muscle groups such as calves and triceps.

The key to the whole fat loss process is simple, just start, don’t wait for tomorrow. Its more than likely that you are responsible for where you are as far as your weight goes, even though you may not have been aware of why.
